Ferrari 488 Pista vs. McLaren 720S vs. Aventador SV Drag Race Looks Dangerous

Most modern performance cars pretty much drag race themselves. You put them in their sportiest traction setting, floor the gas and you're off to victory... hopefully. But that's not the case in this epic drag race between the Ferrari 488 Pista, the McLaren 720S, and the SV version of the Lamborghini Aventador.

It's like all three of these supercars have something to prove, like heavyweight boxers all reaching for the belt. Even the most experienced driver might get into trouble here.

For us, the star of the show has to be the stunning purple Ferrari 488 Pista. It's a really special car, as proven by the fact that it increased in value since it was bought. The engine is cool too, a new twin-turbo V8 that's basically just like the one in the latest Ferrari supercars.

The 3.9-liter V8 delivers brutal acceleration 710 horsepower and 568 lb-ft of torque. Ferrari built this car with excellent handling dynamics and track hero action in mind. But if you want just the straight-line acceleration, the McLaren 720S is your supercar.

It too features a twin-turbo V8 and the horsepower output is the same on paper. However, the British machine dominates in a way that suggests it actually makes way more than claimed. Dyno tests proved that's true many years ago.

Finally, we're dealing with an old-印象彩票网网址多少 kind of supercar, the Lamborghini Aventador SV. It delivers 30 more horsepower but has less torque from its 6.5-liter V12. It's also the only car in the race with AWD, which makes it the heaviest.

What happens in the race is that all the supercars behave erratically. The 488 Pista starts by squirming in the hands of Mat Watson. Meanwhile, the driver of the Aventador chickens out after hitting a pothole. As for the 720S, it just kind of grips and wins everything. Somehow, the fastest car is the least collectible.
